One of the books that I currently LOVE right now is The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. Months ago, the book caught my eye while I was perusing through the aisles at Borders (my favorite bookstore by far). I opted not to make the purchase during that particular visit but I did go home and research the book. I’m a sucker for reviews whether it’s on a specific store, a unique flavor of gelato, or in this case, a book. It received RAVE reviews so I decided it would be next on my already-long list of “To-Read” books. So far, I really like it because it takes me on a journey of basics. We get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we actually miss life and in the process become exceedingly unhappy.
I started to think about happiness on a spiritual note. As a Christian, I’ve been taught that happiness is fleeting and if anything, we should seek to experience true joy that comes through Jesus Christ. For some reason, I translated that as a blanketing statement over happiness and how “bad” it is. Have you ever had a Christian tell you that you’re not supposed to be happy or comfortable in this life? I have. With references to the church of Laodicea, the time of trouble, and judgment day, I’ve had my share of scary and unhappy Christians.
While being scary and unhappy may work for some, it doesn’t work for me. Besides, think of all the wonderful things that God is preparing for us in Heaven. I can assure you that it’s not meant to edify a spirit of unhappiness. In conjunction with my research on how to live a happier, healthier life, I’d like to leave a short clip that proves as the healthiest energy booster in the world. This is for those of you who can’t seem to find enough hours in the day!
Are you actually going to do the challenge as well?
I’m definitely taking in those sleep tips!
@onemansho- Not sure yet. LoL! Still thinking about it to be honest.
I love the more sleep tip myself! And she is absolutely right about making your bed. When i was younger my mom would make me fix my bed in the morning. As i got older sometimes due to hectic schedules and running late i would not have time to make my bed, but it’s the weirdest thing, i would make my bed as soon as i come back home no matter what. I mean even if i spent an entire day out, and i don’t get home until 8pm, even though i’m going to bed again in only a few hours, i had to make it before i got back in it. Even if, i was going to get in bed in 10minutes, i just HAD to make my bed!! I never knew how to explain why i did that, my friends and family though it was weird, i did to, but, it all makes sense now. It was a sense of accomplishment!
Really liked the video. The challenge seems like a great idea 🙂
